Terms of use
The terms that apply when you use Rinkclock: a practice tool for hockey timekeepers, never an official game record or a certification.
Last updated 28 September 2026
What this is
Rinkclock is a practice tool for learning to run a hockey game clock and penalty clocks, and to fill in a penalty record. It is not an official game sheet, not scoreboard software, and not a certification. Rinkclock is a practice tool. Your league or region's certification course is still required, and the referee's call on the ice is final. The certificate of practice records practice; it is not a qualification.
The periods
Every period, team and player number is invented for practice. The game sheet is Rinkclock's own layout and copies no league or federation form. The penalty code sheet and every guide are written in our own words.
Rules and attribution
The rule profiles paraphrase the published rulebooks and cite their rule numbers and editions, with the date they were checked. They do not reproduce rulebook text. Leagues and associations add rules of their own, and the referee's decision on the ice is final; where either differs from what Rinkclock teaches, follow them. Where a governing body or league is named, it is named only to say whose rules are meant. Rinkclock is not affiliated with Hockey Canada, USA Hockey, the OMHA, the GTHL or any league, association or governing body.
What is free
The daily period, the first scenario of every situation, the penalty code sheet, the guides, the FAQ and your running totals are free with no account and stay that way. A paid plan adds both rule profiles, every scenario and generated periods, live pace, full games, projection mode, the certificate and the history. Nothing on the free list will be moved behind a payment.
No account, and your progress
There is nothing to sign up for. Anything the site remembers is stored by your own browser on your own device, which means it can be cleared by you at any time, cannot be recovered by us, and does not follow you to another device. Treat any score you see here as a note to yourself rather than as a record anybody else can verify.
Refunds
Not happy with a purchase? Email [email protected] within 14 days of a first purchase, or within 7 days of a renewal, and we will refund it. Send the message from the email address you used at checkout, and include:
- the email address used at checkout (if you are writing from a different address)
- your access code, shown on the Premium page while you are subscribed on the browser you purchased from
- roughly when you purchased, and which plan (weekly, yearly or lifetime)
- the last 4 digits of the card, if you have the receipt handy
That is everything needed to find the purchase and process the refund. This policy does not limit any statutory rights you may have.
Acceptable use
Use the site for learning and teaching, including projecting it at an association clinic. Do not scrape it at a rate that degrades it for other people, do not present its periods as your own work, and do not use it to keep the record of a real game.
Warranty and liability
The site is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind. To the extent the law allows, Rinkclock is not liable for any loss arising from the use of the site or from reliance on anything on it. A score here is a self assessment, not a qualification or a sign off by any league.
Contact
Questions, a call that reads wrongly, or a report that a clock or sheet entry is graded wrongly all go to the support address in the footer. A graded answer that contradicts the rulebook is a defect and gets fixed.
