# Rinkclock > Practise the hockey timekeeper's job: a narrated period, a game clock and penalty clocks you run, a game sheet you fill, and a grader that marks every start, end and release. Rinkclock is a practice tool. Your league or region's certification course is still required, and the referee's call on the ice is final. Rinkclock is not affiliated with Hockey Canada, USA Hockey, the OMHA, the GTHL or any league, association or governing body. ## How it works A narrator (the browser's own speech engine, or captions) reads an invented hockey period call by call: "Whistle at 12 34. Penalty, home number 7, tripping, minor, 2 minutes." The user runs a game clock and penalty clocks on a console, writes a game sheet (period, number, served by, offence, minutes, time off, start, end), and logs each box door release. A rule engine works out the correct clocks, releases and sheet for every call, and the grader marks each one with the rule number in plain words. Rule profiles: Hockey Canada Playing Rules 2026-2028 (including the 2026-27 change to Rule 4.2(b): delayed minors and bench minors count, as 2:00 remaining, when deciding which penalty ends on a goal) and USA Hockey Official Rules of Ice Hockey 2025-29 (minors pro-rated to period length under Rule 402). Rules are paraphrased with rule numbers; no rulebook text is reproduced. ## Content - 66 authored scenarios in 11 situations: Minors and the power play, Coincidental penalties, Stacked penalties and the queue, Power play goal release, Delayed calls and the goal rule, Double minors, Major plus game misconduct, Misconducts, Period carry-over, Penalty shots, Time-outs and stoppages. - A generated daily period for each rule profile, the same for everyone on a date. - 31 offence codes on the code sheet, described in Rinkclock's own words. ## Tool pages - [Home](https://rinkclock.app/): what Rinkclock is and how the timekeeper drill works. - [Daily period](https://rinkclock.app/drill/): the free daily period: one narrated period a day, graded, in either rule profile. - [Practice](https://rinkclock.app/practice/): authored scenarios by situation: coincidental, stacked, power play goal, delayed call, double minor, major, misconduct, carry-over. - [Full game](https://rinkclock.app/game/): a full three period game at live pace, stop time or running time. - [Projection](https://rinkclock.app/projection/): clinic mode: big scoreboard, calls read to the room, answers revealed on cue, printable key. - [Progress](https://rinkclock.app/progress/): graded sessions, accuracy by situation, JSON export and the certificate of practice. ## Guides and references - [Guide](https://rinkclock.app/guide/): the timekeeper's job in one page, and the hub for every guide below. - [How to run a hockey clock](https://rinkclock.app/guide/how-to-run-a-hockey-clock/): step by step: game clock, penalty clocks, stoppages, the door and the end of a period. - [Coincidental penalties](https://rinkclock.app/guide/coincidental-penalties/): when penalties cancel, who goes on the clock, and when coincidental players leave the box. - [Delayed and stacked penalties](https://rinkclock.app/guide/delayed-penalties-and-the-queue/): the arm-up delayed call and the stacked third penalty: when each starts and who comes out first. - [When a penalty ends on a goal (2026-28)](https://rinkclock.app/guide/penalty-ends-on-a-goal-2026-28/): which penalty ends on a power play goal, and the 2026-28 Canadian change for delayed minors. - [Filling in the game sheet](https://rinkclock.app/guide/filling-the-game-sheet/): every column of the penalty record, row by row, including double minors, majors and misconducts. - [Timekeeper clinic prep](https://rinkclock.app/guide/timekeeper-clinic-prep/): what a timekeeper clinic covers and a pre-game checklist for the box. - [US and Canadian box rules compared](https://rinkclock.app/guide/us-vs-canadian-box-rules/): the penalty box rules that differ between the Canadian and USA rulebooks, side by side. - [Penalty codes](https://rinkclock.app/codes/): the penalty codes written in the Offence column, in plain words, with penalty lengths for both rule profiles. - [FAQ](https://rinkclock.app/faq/): questions about the site, the rules it follows, grading, privacy and what it costs. ## Optional - [Full reference text](https://rinkclock.app/llms-full.txt): every guide, the code sheet and the FAQ as Markdown in one file. - [Premium](https://rinkclock.app/premium/): the paid plan: what it adds, weekly, yearly or lifetime, and what stays free forever. - [Privacy](https://rinkclock.app/privacy/): what stays on your device (everything). - [Terms](https://rinkclock.app/terms/): terms of use; a practice tool, never an official game record or a certification. ## What it is not - Not affiliated with Hockey Canada, USA Hockey, the OMHA, the GTHL or any league, association or governing body. - Not a certification.
